Persongalleriet #759: "Live" blog from NYC: Day 10

Thursday, November 9th 2017.
Not exactly live, since this was a week ago now... But it's been busy days since I got home, so I haven't gotten around to doing this last one from the New York trip until now.
I did a two hour morning walk to find some shots in Penn Station and then went back and checked out of my hotel room. With the bags in the luggage room I walked about three more hours, mostly in the East Village and a little bit on the Lower East Side. Then it was time to take train out to Newark airport!
So, here are the final "live" blog photos this time around!

I call this last one: When the World Turns to Sh*t, Make Sure You Have a Lot of Toilet Paper!

Be well, everybody!

Persongalleriet #758: Live blog from NYC: Day 9

Wednesday, November 8th 2017.
In the morning, I got up at 7 and made the 8:10 train back to New York Penn Station. After a short walk down to the Chelsea Savoy at 23rd and 7th to get my bags into the luggage room, I got back out on the Manhattan streets. An uncomplicated route took me north on 7th Avenue up to 57th street near the southern edge of Central Park and then back south again on 5th Avenue. In my head, the photos I picked out for this blog entry have a theme which connects them. Can you spot it?

Have a great Sunday, everybody!

Persongalleriet #757: Live blog from New Jersey (Day 8)

Tuesday, November 7th 2017.
I said my goodbyes and thankyous to Michael and Francisco in the morning and took a cab to Penn Station, where i got on a train to Asbury Park, NJ.  In the evening my primary reason for going there, The Wood Brothers, were playing The Stone Pony! And what a great show they put on! The opening act, Sean McConnell, was pretty good too, what a great voice! The classic room was packed on this Tuesday night and the crowd was great! Here's a video from the concert.
I didn't bring a camera, but here are some photos I got outside, when I walked the boardwalk and Ocean Boulevard made famous in Bruce Springsteen's songs from his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ.

Be well, everybody!

PS I'm home again now, so I guess the blog isn't really live, but what does a few days matter?  :-)  DS

Persongalleriet #756: Live blog from NYC: Day 7

Monday, November 6th 2017.
On this trip I've been riding on the subway quite a lot. Could be boring, I guess, but it's also always a great opportunity to do street photography!

The first ride on this day went all the way from 103rd street to the southern tip of Manhattan. I was looking for some interesting lines from the architecture and maybe some Wall Street suits as subjects.

After some hours of this I took yet another subway ride, this time out to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as recommended by my new friend Barry.

Here's one last photo, shot on the platform waiting for the train back to the Upper West Side.

Be well, everybody!

Persongalleriet #755: Live blog from NYC: Day 6

Sunday, November 5th 2017.
A grey day with a bit of rain in the air. I spent some time locating the International Center of Photography. In my old guide book, it had an adress on 6th avenue at 43rd street. It wasn't there. I found a Starbucks nearby and googled the new location. OK, not so far, on 44th close to 6th. Well, google was wrong... not there either! I went back to the Starbucks and went into the ICP website. New museum at 250 Bowery. Another subway trip down to Soho and finally I got to the new museum and was rewarded with a fantastic exhibition by Lauren Greenfield, called Generation Wealth. Very well worth seeing if you have the opportunity!

In the evening, I had a great time at the Dia de los muertos party my hosts Michael and Francisco had for about 10 people. The guys had worked hard for two days preparing delicious Mexican food in great quantities! And I had some very enjoyable and interesting conversations with people from the US, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Austria and France! It was so much fun! Thanks again Michael and Francisco!

Todays photos are four street portraits in black and white:

Be well, everybody!
