Hans, I use a SB80DX on my D1X and it works very well. Many folks, though, including myself, find flash photography a little more tricky with digital than with film. It take a little more care, I find. That flash should work just fine with your D100, though. Bests, Duncan

Edward, had my D1x a while now, too and JUST got some darned dust on the CCD now and I change lenses all the time. They show up with my 70-180mm Zoom-Micro-Nikkor at f8 and f11 real well, especially when doing product photos on a white/neutral background. Well, time to follow my own advice and...
