    Hjälp! En laptop för bild?

Just because it remaps the colors in a different way.

Just make an experiment: take a series of pictures with a completely flat color with absolutely flat illumination. Write a script to compare pixel by pixel and tell what do you see. Now do the same with a gradient with colors covering the full spectra and measure the deviation from the ideal xyz...

Perhaps we are talking about different things. If a sensor is highly sensitive in the green area, lower in the red area and even lower in the blue area, and even worst, that curve is not soft at all with several peaks,, for me that not a linear sensor. If you take a single pixel with a single...

Agree! great technique. Duplicate the layer. In the back layer use as much gaussian blur until you loose ALL the high frequencies (no texture at all) select the top layer and go to: Image-> apply image set the parameters like this: layer: the bottom layer (the one that was blurred) Blending: add...

    Börja fota i RAW?

I give you one more reason why to shoot in RAW. Raw demosaicing algorithms are getting better and better everyday. That means that you digital negative can be redeveloped in the future with way much better quality. Just that make the whole point to shoot in RAW. Before the storage space was...

    Hjälp! En laptop för bild?

One last thing. Avoid the wide gamut screens unless you know exactly what you are doing. Wide gamut can show more colors than regular ones but needs a special workflow.

Just do this exercise: download Davinci Resolve Lite (free). Crush the blacks slightly and watch how many artefacts will you see, look at that nasty banding. Now calbrate the screen and...BUM...everything looks perfect. Of course this does not work in every screen, only in the ones that has...

    Hjälp! En laptop för bild?

WEll, putting in very simple words (i wont write a book here :-) no screen is linear. To put a very simplistic example a signal of let say (0,0, 223) is shown by the screen as (1,2,215), but a signal of (0,0,225) is shown as ((3,0,222) and so on. Some screens are so unlinear that can not even be...

    Bra Canonobjektiv för filmning?

Just remember one thing: not twolenses are the same, even the same model with the same brand and batch. More than that, both the mount of the lenst and the mount of your camera has tiny misalignments not seen by the naked eye but that has a profound impact in the quality of the image so if you...

    Bra Canonobjektiv för filmning?

If it is zoom try for the difference between focus length to be the minimum (e.g.: 24-70). Th slenses are easier to design and has less elements (the big exemptions is the classical 7--200). Of course gry to choose the series L (way, but way much better). After said that... you won't to set the...

Sorry if my english was not good enough. I just wanted to point out that ia am not a newcomer in regarding to image technology. At the same post i wanted to get back to the beginning: to overexpose or not. Numbers for me doesn't mean nothing unless is accompanied with result coming from...

    Hjälp! En laptop för bild?

Whatever the laptop you decide to choose please get a good calibrator and use an program like DispCalGui (free) so you can see what are you doing (no surprises). TRy to choose the machine with the better screen (and that does not mean the better contrast but the better linearity)

Back to the beginning. I rather prefer to avoid clipping the whites that are impossible to recover. Sadly enough the dslrs has no knee control as the high end film cameras. There is plenty to discuss about the subject but for me one thing is clear: the manufacturers lie or in the best case they...

From this blog: Based on its definition, the DNL is always normalized to an ideal step size. http://harvestimaging.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/next_blog_1.jpg look in the graphic to the actual transfer curve The fact that they fit the nonlinear response to fit the best line doesnt make...

I believe you are making a mistake. The sensors are in fact monochrome. It takes the colors through filtering. The linearity of the sensor is attained through processing of the signal, what, depending of the algorithm used introduces internal non linearity, thus the characteristics and feel of...

There is no such thing as a linear RAW. First of all because the sensor is not linear at all (and each sensors has diverse non linearities): http://www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=130183&stc=1&d=1371651689...

I am a little lost here. Lenses does not contribute to the DR (that it should called latitude, dinamic range is referred to the noise) but yes, affects greatly the Modulation Transfer Function (and so the contrast and color contrast). I have not seen any sensor reaching 14 EV other than in high...
