so how can i know that its not grey then? is it any sertain papers to look for or?
Chewie,
yes, just talk to the dealer and ask him if this is an official authorised lens or an imported grey market. The only difference is that a grey market lens has been privately imported by a company and not bought from the authorised importer. The equipment is exactly the same but if something goes wrong with your grey market stuff, you could end up having to send it back to the dealer you bought it from and asking him to fix it (assuming he is honourable) instead of just leaving it in to your local workshop here in Sweden. Grey market stuff is ONLY warrantied by the person selling it, not by the maker or the official importer.
You could just make a note of the serial number of the camera in question and then just go ring the manufacturer (Canon in this case) and ask them to check if it's grey import or official, if you don't trust the word of the seller.
Basically, in order for the goods to be official and authorised, you should be issued with a warranty card, which should be stamped by an authorised dealer at the point of purchase in order to activate and validate it. If the dealer is not an "authorised" dealer his stamp is useless to you and won't help.
btw thanks a lot for ur help duncan!
