Och när EOS300v kom var det många som tyckte den vinklade toppanelen var en kopia av Pentax MZ-S (inga övriga jämförelser)... Jag tycker själv den är klart snyggare. Förmodligen ganska plastig, men om priset är rätt är det en mycket välutrustad och kompakt kamera. Undrar bara hur de tänkt att man ska köra den nya zoomarna som saknar bländarring manuellt med bara en inmatningsratt? Måste man växla mellan att ställa in tid och bländare på samma ratt? Tacka vet jag MZ-S/3/5...

Bländarringen kvar!
Den nya *Ist kameran är fullständigt kompatibel med K och M objektiv, enligt Pentax U.S. Pentax nya FAJ-serie av objektiv, utan bländarring, är till för de konsumenter som köper en instegsmodell (MZ-60, som saknar stöd för mekanisk bländare), rör bländarringen och lämnar tillbaka kameran till affären därför att den inte fungerar. MZ-60 saknar stöd för mekanisk bländarring, precis som Pentax instegsmodeller har gjort i flera års tid nu. Detta förvirrar konsumenterna. Nu kan Pentax sälja instegsmodellen med objektiv utan bländarring till de konsumenter som inte vill eller inte orkar läsa kamerans bruksanvisning.
FAJ serien (FA Junior) är budgetoptik för instegsmodellen. Pentax kommer inte att göra som Nikon och lansera optik utan bländarring för mer avancerade fotografer. Detta bevisas av att *Ist stödjer mekanisk bländarring på objektivet, till skillnad från Nikons senaste kameror.

I Japan så kommer *ist att kosta något mindre än MZ-L (MZ-6 i Sverige). Prismässigt så ersätter alltså *ist MZ-6 och MZ-7, medan MZ-5n och MZ-3 fortfarande rankas högre. Vilket är intressant då *ist har betydligt bättre speccar än MZ-5n och MZ-3 (de är bättre på en enda punkt - sökaren är pentaprisma av glas medan *ist har, i likhet med flertalet konkurrenter, en spegelbox av plast). Pentax har tidigare indikerat att de kommer att ha 3 filmbaserade systemkameror, vi kan därför förvänta oss två till och vi kanske ska se *ist som instegsmodellen i denna serie. Med tanke på *ist imponerande speccar så kan man undra vad den verkliga MZ-5n/MZ-3 efterföljaren får för speccar....
I dagsläget ser det ut som att *ist klart aspirerar på ledartröjan före de tidigare så dominerande EOS 300 och Dynax 5.
