Här kommer ett omdömme om kameran av Stephen Eastwood som fått testa en förserie-kamera:
OK So I still cannot release any photos but I can talk about the camera and maybe answer some questions about it plus give my opinion here and there (like I ever kept that to myself)
Yes, the stats leaked are correct, the camera is fast and the files are absolutely beautiful. Shooting it is much like the 1D, the write times are as fast with a fast card, which is very very impressive considering all the extra info moving around. You will notice the speed increase simply by formatting the card, what use to take 3 seconds now takes about 1 second, on the same card. I shot in studio and it worked flawlessly, though it was a preproduction camera so the files are not necessarily representative of a production version. But if they did not improve anything I would buy it as is no question asked. I shot at 800iso and found the shots so incredible I had to check exif to make sure I was looking at the right shot. I have since printed for myself and the model some 800iso shots and with no noise reduction they look amazing pure and simple. So what does that say about iso 100? Well, as good as they look at 800 when you open up a 100 iso shot you say to yourself WOW! They are as sharp as previous 1D shots and as crisp as 1DS shots. The dynamic range is as good if not slightly better than the current 1D especially on the ability to hold highlights (we all know I like to blow things out and go as hot as possible, and I did for this camera test as well)
So what else do I love? Its the best of both worlds 1D and 1DS in one. The zoom is simple and a real zoom, press one button than you have two * and Focus point selection buttons to zoom in and out and what a zoom, its real detail there you can actually check sharpness at a critical level if needed, and this feature does not slow the camera down at all. Happy at last! Though I never use a zoom I may start now which will slow me down but its nice to zoom and check the little details here and there. The dual card slots, while using two different cards does not thrill me it is great to have since several things occur, one you can shoot until you are full and switch over so you are never missing a shot because you ran out oof space and have to pull one card and switch for another. Also opening the door does not stop the camera from writing, which can save you a few shots when you get a bit over zealous and want to pop the card out in a hurry. And what I really love is the fact that you have this color myrid shift, 9 steps warm to cool on the selected WB, something I have been wanting since the D30. Now you can pick your WB or even custom WB then warm or cool it from there, a great addition to anyone who shoots people period, OK food would also benefit from warming up a bit as well plus I am sure people can find tons of new uses for this. What about color spaces? You still have the 1-5 matrices plus custom set ups, so you can now set Adobe RGB with increased or decreased saturation/tones thats a nice feature, something I missed, the menu is a hybrid between the 1D and 10D and slightly brighter, you can also do many things through the menu that you use to need the computer for before, setting jpg compression level, sharpness.
And its a bit easier to follow now that instead of matrix 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 it says what they are, portrait, adobe etc.
Yes, I am leaving out a lot I am sure but there is a lot that the camera has, and more that I did not have time to explore but the important things I want to stress is the quality of this camera, from the two I had shot the files exceed my expectations. Its not all about pixel count, the quality of each pixel is improved and the dynamic range is also improved. The WB is better without the external sensor, and the histogram now shows each channel individually making it easy to see if you are clipping any colors, the auto rotation is annoying since I was never use to it and still wont use it as it causes my shots to get smaller on review, but I realize many of you want this feature and here it is. You can print direct from camera via USB, great for the event people and also for printing little proofs for art directors over your shoulder, kind of like a Polaroid for the 21st century. Oh and the Vidoe out Yippee! I have missed that although its been so long that I don't know if I will still use it. But I love being able to connect to someones TV and show them the shots right away, I don't always have a computer or want to connect to one.
OK, so start asking and I will answer what I can based on my limited time with the cameras. Certain things are of course still off limits, price, and actual downloadable files included for now.
